  In July of 2014 I made an appointment at the urgent care on long pond road in Greece for panic/anxiety. I had just served 4 years in the military and my previous doctor had retired while I was away. I had never had any issues with panic and/or anxiety up until this point. The doctor at urgent care urged me to find a primary care doctor so they could monitor my situation better, I agreed, so he recommend me to Dr. Kiriakidi (she worked in the same building as the urgent care). I made an appointment with her the following week, and I told her what I was experiencing. I was very new to "anxiety" and I couldn't figure out why, out of nowhere, I would start shaking or start having extreme thoughts of panic. She prescribed me 2MG of Ativan (Lorazepam) as needed for panic. She did not send me for blood work or any other type of tests. Just a prescription that would "make the problem go away as needed". The prescription helped in the short term, and whenever I would start to have an "attack" these pills would make it stop, but at the same time I could barely walk without tripping over my own feet. After dealing with the anxiety for 3 months things started to get worse and worse. I would only leave my house for work, and would shelter myself from pretty much everything. My thoughts started getting very dark, and I was worried about my well being. I immediately called Dr. Kiriakidi's office and requested an appointment with a psychologist. I made sure to tell them it was an EMERGENCY and I was concerned for my health. It took 2 days for them to call me back with a phone number to another office. I called that office to set up an appointment, and I was told there was a 2 month waiting list. I then called Dr. Kiriakidi's office back and explained to them (again) that I was in an emergency situation and having an extremely hard time dealing with my disorder. I asked if they could get me an appointment with anyone else at a sooner date, they said they would call me back immediately. They did not get back to me that day. I called the next afternoon and I was told by reception that "she hasn't had time and will get back to me as soon as she is free." I finally heard back from her, it was exactly 8 days from my emergency request. By this time I had already scheduled myself with a new doctor because I had lost faith that Dr. Kiriakidi had my well being as her priority. After going to see my new doctor, during the VERY FIRST visit he requested full panel blood work to be done just to make sure anything wasn't going on (because I had never experienced panic or anxiety before). It turns out my Vitamin D levels were the lowest he's ever seen in his 40 year career. I took a weekly medication to raise my levels and haven't felt an ounce of anxiety or panic since my first dose. It took 7 months to come up with this diagnosis, as I was bordering on completely giving up and coming to terms with the fact I would never be "normal" again. I have absolutely no respect for this doctors office, and I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. She doesn't take the time to diagnose patients, and simply chooses 1 possible condition without exploring the possibility that there may be something else going on. I spent 7 months of my life as an anxious mess because this "doctor" didn't even bother to run a single test on her patient. There is absolutely no excuse for what I went through.
